Boat Rack
The boat rack is a terrific and convenient asset for members. Currently there are 54 slots for dinghies, small boats, kayaks and paddleboards. There is also a large dolly for moving craft. To be considered for a space on the boat rack, members must be in good standing (dues paid).
Space on the boat rack is available on a first come, first serve basis with a modest, tiered fee structure. Dinghies and small boats take up 1.5 slot(s) and are placed on the bottom rack for convenience, so the fee is slightly more. Members may opt for winter storage as well, for an additional, nominal fee.
This year, there is more demand than supply of rack space, so some changes will be forthcoming. These include instituting a new boat rack assignment process, providing an option to double up small watercraft in one slot, and adding wooden uprights to separate spaces and maximize the number of vessels stored. The rack identification numbers are also getting a cosmetic makeover.
Thank you to the Beach Infrastructure Committee which made the final decision on a more predictable and fair system to adopt, based on the premise that every applicant should have an equal opportunity for a slot. This season, there will be two rounds of assignments. A Waiting List will be formed if we cannot accommodate all member requests, but with our new strategy, we are hopeful everyone will have a slot(s) for their vessels.
Round 1 is first come, first served, but just one assignment per household until each household making requests has been given one slot. The deadline is April 1st when annual applications for membership are due. Applications will be queued up in the order received, starting with the applications that were submitted early (~17).
Round 2 assignments will be for all second space requests made before April 1st. All requests from April 1st to May 1st will be assigned on a space available, first come, first served basis. Applications will be queued up in the order received.
All members will get their assignments no later than May 18th. On July 1st, an audit of the boat rack slots will occur. If some slots are not filled, members will be contacted to determine if they plan to use them. If not, the slot(s) will be re-assigned to the first household in the queue (on the Waiting List). Any fees paid for unused spots that are filled by another member will be refunded.
Members cannot give away their assigned slots, as there are many factors that come into play when configuring total storage. The Executive Committee will accept special requests and mid-season requests on a case-by-case basis as circumstances require.
To apply, please submit the boat rack form with payment to the Treasurer of the Association following the instructions on the Membership page where the forms can be found.
Please note:
Vessels must be removed no later than November 15th, unless the winter storage fee is paid in advance. If vessels are not removed by November 15th, the storage fee will be charged.
Open hulled boats are typically placed upside down on the rack to limit mosquito activity in the beach area. This year, all watercraft may be placed on their sides.
